"Faces" Challenge--Tag Tuesday and Lovey's Challenge

This set of “Inner Beauty” tags was created from commercial papers and embellishments, as well as vintage photos from Marie's Freebies. Although the faces on these women are so lovely, I feel that inner
beauty is what makes a person truly beautiful!

These were created to enter into the Tag Tuesday challenge. Thank you so much for visiting!

These are also linked to Lovey's challenge!

Tea Cup Tuesday

Hi Everyone--

I received a sweet post today from Terri at Tea Cup Tuesday asking if I had any teacups I could display for this Link Party...Wow, where do I begin? I have 8 complete sets of fine china from Wedgewood to Royal Albert...so, I chose a teacup from my favorite set and thought I would display it for you...I have also been collecting fine china tea cup sets for more than 30 years, so I will have much more to share with you in the future. All of them are English bone china.

My apologies for a lack of flowers and full setting, but I was trying to do this quickly to be on time!

Wow, it sounds very much like, "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date!"

Thank you for visiting me.

Please scroll down to the next post if you would like to see my "tea bag" jars.

Teafully yours,
Cindy

Mixed Media Monday--"Play" Theme

Mixed Media Monday's theme is "Play." So, what is my REAL idea about that? For me, when I am playing, it's when my buttons and ribbon and flowers are on the table...so, I took a picture of them and used them for the background of this picture.

Have a great day!
Hugs,
Cindy

New Drawing!

On my I Owe it All to Him blog, I am having a link party that runs from Friday (today) through Sunday, July 18 night at 9 p.m. All I'm asking for people to do is post their favorite Bible verse on their blog and link it up on my blog...(Link is there.)

Anyone who links up is automatically entered into the drawing to win this repurposed tin. There will be a random drawing and I will announce the winner on Sunday night after the Link Party closes.

I love this image, so that is why I used it to create this mini piece of mixed media art. The image is from Marie's Freebie's along with commercial papers and embellishments.

To reach my other blog, just go to: I Owe it All to Him.

This is now closed.

Have a nice weekend!

They are made with commercial papers and embellishments. Also, the Ballet News tag features a graphic from the Graphics Fairy.

Pail with Eggs--For Brag Monday and Mixed Media Monday

Hi Everyone--When I saw this little pail, I couldn't wait to incorporate it into this week's project...I used an image from the Graphics Fairy. I love the light blue as a soft accent color in this graphic. I added moss grass, miniature eggs, and silk flowers for a light summer feel. It is adorned with pale grayish blue organza ribbon.

The more I'm looking at this picture, I'm thinking that the miniature eggs look like potatoes! But, in person they really do look like eggs...lol

(One more thing, if you decide to try this, you can also add a card with a name on it tucked inside and use it as a place holder for a luncheon--fun and simple!)

This little pail is being linked up to:

Thank you for looking!

Surprise Day!

Hi everyone...

Today is Surprise Day here on my blog! I have just completed 2 tags--one is for Maria in Australia and one is for Jody.

They were created using commercial papers and embellishments.

Maria’s is the one with the butterfly and the number 8 as Maria has eight children...she is very blessed! And Maria makes such beautiful mixed media art!

Jody’s is the one with the glittery bird on it and flowers. Since her website is Home and Heart, I thought that she would find a wonderful place to display it.

(Maria and Jody, please email me your addresses and last names so that I can send these to you.)

I hope you’ll visit their blogs and be inspired.

Note: I will have Surprise Day every once in awhile here at Whimsical Musings. First, I pick 2 names at random from people who visit my blog, and then make a tag especially for them. It’s a new tradition that I just started--how fun!

Mixed Media Monday--"Something Borrowed"

Hi Everyone-

I couldn’t wait to use this image from Mind Wide Open--and this new challenge was my opportunity. The piece is hanging from a wire hanger (also from Mind Wide Open) and I was so excited to use it in my art.

This was also the first time that I have incorporated the use of paper with fabric...I like to work with batik as the colors are so rich. In addition to attaching it to the canvas, I also cut it in strips and used it along with other fibers and soy silk attached to the hanger itself. Beading with miniature coins were used as a trim to complete the piece. Also includes commercial graphics and embellishments.

I have been seeing hangers used to display several pieces, so I have “borrowed” the idea for this challenge.

To reach this challenge, please go to: Mixed Media Monday

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Sunday Postcard Art

Last year, my daughter went on a cross-country
trip and took this photograph of street art near
the U.S./Mexico border.

With it, I created this collage for
the "street art" challenge.

At Sunday Postcard Art we were asked to create a piece that reflects "street art." Graphics used are from Dezinaworld and the Graphics Fairy. In this work, lifestyles are juxtaposed, as well as locations. The message is simple--whoever we are and wherever we create art, it
comes from inside. A special "thank you" to my daughter, Jenny.
