Elegant Decorator Tags

I design for Shabby Cottage Studio. I think that decorator tags add a touch of elegance to the many rooms and I created these tags because I think they have such charm....

I love German glitter glass and these tags were sprinkled with glittery goodness. If you would like to know how to make them, I have a complete tutorial HERE!

Gingersnap Creations is having a 2-color challenge that I am linking these up to, having used shades of blue and sepia as my colors.

To enter the challenge, go here: Gingersnap Creations.

Angelic Treasures

Here is a picture of my daughter Jenny as she posed for Fashion Week~(The vintage faux fur is a designer piece that my mom bought in Paris.)

And here is a picture of us that she just posted to Facebook. (We were at a restaurant last month for her birthday.)

Jenny is here living in New Orleans right now and teaching at the college--which is so exciting.

I have received so many emails about my Angel seminar that is posted up above~and I am truly thrilled that so many of you have found it to be so inspiring.

I hope that as the new year unfolds that each of you feels protection and love around you.

This holiday season, I received so many special blessings in my mailbox from my wonderful blogging friends. This beautiful tag is from Starr. It is filled with glittery goodness!!

And Valerie of Bastelmania sent me (among other treasures) this gorgeous embossed Christmas tag.
And Cindy of Art, Books, Tea sent me this precious collage with vintage buttons and lace to begin the New Year.

I have placed all of these in my entry where I can enjoy gazing at them!! Thank you all so much.
I am truly humbled by your kindness.

Today my daughter Jenny and I will be enjoying a mother/daughter day out together!!!

Get Your Craft on in 2012!

Is creating your passion? Well, it is definitely mine and I have just written a book about it.

Mixed media art can be romantic. Here is a French-inspired decorative piece I created.

A romantic tussie mussie that you can add to your home decor.

Images on both projects are from: The Graphics Fairy

In my book, I also describe some of the most economical ways for you to find objects for your art or pieces you make for home decor.

I received an email from one reader who said, “I couldn’t wait to get into the car and go to the store to get my hands on those items!”

Wishing you all a Happy and Creative New Year!!!

Altered Shoe

If there is one thing I have learned through doing mixed media art it's that if I have an idea for something, I may have to wait to find JUST the right article I want to work on...Such is the case with this shoe that I just completed for my good friend, Velma. It is a little girl's Capezio tap shoe! This piece is entitled "Life is a Dance" and the theme fits Velma so perfectly.

If you notice, there's an angel inside on a card~Velma is one of the amazing people in my angel book, Angels at My Door, so I wanted to include that in the shoe to indicate life's blessings. This will be making its way to her this week.

There is someone named Sheridan who needs our prayers right now~I hope that you will scoot down 2 posts to read about his story and pray for him. Thank you all for being such angels!

Merry Christmas

I am entering my altered shoe into the Stamp Man Challenge!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!! If you remember, I had a special Giveaway planned for Christmas Day--and the winner of my giveaway is Marti of Arty Marti--Congratulations, Marti!

I have more to share with you on this very special day...My sweet step-daughter, Krissy has just started a brand-new business--She has a booth in an antique mall in Indianapolis and repurposes furniture--and it's really beautiful. So, she just created a brand-new blog this weekend. It is called French Chalkboard.

I have a special surprise mixed media piece that I made for her as a Christmas gift...It is a little girl's ballet slipper...and I wrote a poem that accompanies it to wish her success on her new venture. Her art studio is French-themed in black and hot pink.

Here's another view of "Dance to Your Dreams."

And here is the poem.

Here is hoping that you ALL dance to your dreams--and live them to the fullest. Wishing you a beautiful Christmas.

If you've got a minute, I'm wondering if you'd visit Krissie and become a follower~When you get to her blog, you will see she is brand-new and just getting her "blogging wings!"

Her link is HERE.

P.S. As I write this blog post, I am listening to The Chipmunk Song--I love that song!

A Spoonful of Sugar

I would like to thank all of you who have written such deeply felt letters about my angel book~Yes, I truly have experienced miracles in my own life and so have many other people in this special "blogging family" of ours....and I am so happy to know that you have been touched by those stories.

I have just completed making this altered silver spoon for a dear friend of mine...I love vintage silver and when my husband was up north this year, I asked him to find some for me--he did!! But, the reason I wanted some was so that I could alter them...

After adhering a graphic to it, I sprinkled it with sugar~Not really. It's glitter!

And then, of course, seam binding and pink satin roses were added. I hope that it will warm my friend's heart.

Merry Christmas, Everyone! Oh, and my giveaway is still in full-swing until 11 p.m. Saturday night....I will announce the winner on Christmas Day! If you would like to enter, there is still time. Just click HERE.

Kaleidoscope

Hi Everyone~

I design for Scrap for Help--I decided to create a faux kaleidoscope because our theme this month is "Fathers."

First, I made the digital piece above with graphics from Dezinaworld.

Then, I took a paper towel roll. I covered it with paper from The Graphics Fairy. Then, I took a larger tube, cut it, placed a dark image from The Graphics Fairy onto it and slid it over the top. I took the remainder of the cardboard and slid it onto the bottom.

Having run off my original design in the size of a tag, I tied it on to complete the project.

So, there you have it--my creation!
