Island Fever!

Hi Everyone~

Yes, it's that time of year again--a time when many of us want to get to the beach and put our toes in the sand!

I wanted to show you some of my new beach-themed Etsy items...

I got the idea to sell various pieces that could be used to display shells or any other collection...

Shelves are always fun...especially in a special nook or cranny of the house where you want some added pizzazz...

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this set of shelves to repurpose them!

And, of course, sconces with a fleurish design fit so perfectly with any Beach Cottage decor...

Dreamy...Just like a day at the beach!

Oh, and one more thing...If you love French Farmhouse decor, please scroll down to see what I have in store...

I have been having trouble posting to many blogs, so if you don't hear from me, you'll know why!!

Love & hugs,
Cindy

Coastal Chic Pink Saturday

A Special Birthday Celebration!

Hi Everyone~

This weekend is the 3rd birthday of Pink Saturday and I hope you will join all of us with your "pinks" to celebrate this happy occasion with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound!

This week is also the Grand Opening of a brand-new section of my Etsy store and it is called 2 Market 2 Market. Everything in this section is $10 and under, so if you need to do some shopping this weekend, I hope you'll take a peak in there for both Shabby Cottage and Beach Cottage Treasures.

For those of you who love Pink Saturday (and don't we all love it?) I thought you might enjoy a little "excursion to the beach" with these newest creations of mine from my Grand Opening.

(Oops! Since I made this post, this set was sold,
but if you'd like to buy a set, just let me know.)

These little peat pots can be placed on a table or shelf for added ambiance and a touch of "Coastal Chic."

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

And before you go, I'd like to tell you that my friend Holly from 2911 Jeremiah Avenue has a feature of me on her blog...It is called "A Woman of Hope." I hope you will go take a look! Thank you Holly! You are so dear to me.

Happy Birthday, Pink Saturday and congratulations Beverly for keeping us all "in the pink!"

Also, if you love vintage-style decorating, I hope you'll scoot down to the next post to take a look at my newest items!

Tag Tuesday and Dragon's Dream Challenges

Hi Everyone~
There is a challenge called "The Deep" (meaning the ocean) over at Tag Tuesday. A week ago, I received this gorgeous mermaid card from my friend Zoe at Zoe's Chaos and I wanted to post it again because I think it's fantastic. Then, I am submitting my seahorse tag for the challenge.

And here is a seahorse tag I made~

I just heard about a challenge called Dragon's Dream and I want to submit my seahorse tag for the challenge that asks us to "texturize" our tags, as well as for Tag Tuesday.

"Seaside Dreams" Garland With Tutorial

This “Seaside Dreams” garland was created for a friend of mine--Debbie at Love of the Sea. If you love the beach, then you’ll love visiting her blog!

I used coordinating paper in beige and light sage green with 2 separate patterns--one is striped and the other is a small plaid. It worked perfectly for a “beach-themed” piece. Click on each picture to see more detail.

If you’ve got an entire day to devote to making one, they’re really fun! Here are the directions.

  1. Cut out tags the size you would like (mine are large.) Back them with card stock.
  2. Choose and print out graphics that you want to use. (Mine were all done in sepia.)
  3. Decorate the tags and lay out the design. (This part is what takes the longest.)
  4. Punch a hole at the top of each tag and put ribbon through it. (I used beige organza.)
  5. Use clothespins to attach to long ribbon--you’re done! (I also added tulle fabric.)

A close up of the center tag.

Notice the tag on the far right--there is a small
glass bottle with sand in it, burlap, coffee-stained
cheesecloth, and a shell.

Here are some of my beach-themed Tussie Mussies.
