Paris Dress

Last night, I was over at the wonderful blog, Nan's Niche--she is an amazing, super-talented artist! She wrote about a dress challenge...Oh me, oh my, when I was little, I loved to play with dolls--it was my very favorite thing to do!!! So, at 3 in the morning, you guessed it--I was making a dress!

But, this was not just any dress....You see, now that I am grown up, I am a columnist for a newspaper...So, I made the dress out of this week's newspaper! And then, I put black tulle over it...It has black satin straps with miniature faux pearls. Lastly, I made a shawl to go with it from cheese cloth.

I made this summer dress to honor Paris as the fashion capital of the world....

Embellished with commercial paper.

I made it for 2 challenges. One is Dress Up--Hugs to Margaret!!!

and for Mixed Media Monday--Hugs to Diane!!!

Hugs to the people at Paris in July! I am linking up to that also.

And hooking this up to The French Obsession Challenge--hugs to Frenchy!!!

Also, I've got some exciting news--I hope you'll scroll down to see it!

Hugs,
Cindy

Cindy~ I am a little torn because I had a card all designed on paper, but I think that I am in love with this idea too... You know how it is. LOL! Maybe I will make both. I know that next "I" am going to be taking photos of her and us together at bingo and I am going to make her a canvas wall art for her home. I really love to do those and I know she will love it, but wanted to make her an over the top card to take to her on Friday. ~Sherry F.

Have a great week.

Bravo, Cindy! This is absolutely brilliant and beautiful; you tied together some of my favorite things: fashin, the written word, and tulle! BTW, my son is traveling to Paris today, and he's certainly one of my favorite things.

Oh Cindy! That is j'adorable. And very chic. I am working on a box of pages (found a very cool book box at Michael's with Paris scenery all over it - opens like a book) to make a memory box for my friend Marsha's daughters. She passed away earlier this year after a valiant battle with cancer, and her very favorite place to travel was Paris. So, in her honor, I am getting a group together to make this box of remembrances with pictures and collages and stories of my sweet friend Marsha. Maybe I could put a picture of this wonderful dress in the box - if you wouldn't mind. Her girls would love it. Blessings to you! Now, I'm going down to read your exciting news. Cindy

Even if I can't do these things myself, I love to see what others create! : ) Thanks so much for your recent comment ~ I've missed visiting all my friend's blogs these past few days, although I am having fun with the granddaughter!

Cindy, Thanks for permission to use the pic of the Parisian dress! It will make the inside of that box look spectacular. Marsha had such a flair for fashion - she would have loved that so much. I also love that it was made with a newspaper. My fam's been in the newspaper biz for a long time. You are the very best. I absolutely love looking in your gallery. Big hugs and blessings, Cindy H.

Looks like I'm a bit late. I had to scroll down a bit to find this beauty. I kept looking and looking and was certainly surprised to read that this was made from a newspaper. Gorgeous first dress. It is both feminine and artsy due to the contrast between the tulle and the cheese cloth. Look forward to many more.
