Mixed Media Monday--"Something Borrowed"

Hi Everyone-

I couldn’t wait to use this image from Mind Wide Open--and this new challenge was my opportunity. The piece is hanging from a wire hanger (also from Mind Wide Open) and I was so excited to use it in my art.

This was also the first time that I have incorporated the use of paper with fabric...I like to work with batik as the colors are so rich. In addition to attaching it to the canvas, I also cut it in strips and used it along with other fibers and soy silk attached to the hanger itself. Beading with miniature coins were used as a trim to complete the piece. Also includes commercial graphics and embellishments.

I have been seeing hangers used to display several pieces, so I have “borrowed” the idea for this challenge.

To reach this challenge, please go to: Mixed Media Monday

This is a beautiful piece, Cindy. I'm loving the increased use of fabrics and threads in mixed media. They add an entirely new and exciting dimension.
(Yes, I'm one of the Three Muses, along with Marie (Ozstuff) from Australia and Taluula (Ann) fronm the UK. We started the blog just over a year ago, and have been having great fun with it).

Hi Cindy, this is gorgeous! I haven't ventured into the fabric/paper realm yet. Hope is the right text for the piece. Beautiful.

I haven't taken a picture of my sanctuary spot yet. I'll try to get to it soon.
